How Long to Beat Rehaunted

Store length, Steam's two-hour refund clock, investigation density, and Update 01's effect on a short run.

How Long to Beat Rehaunted

Cauchemar lists Rehaunted at about two to three hours. That number is the honest store estimate for a single-player first-person detective horror campaign, not a 40-hour RPG clock and not a speedrun chart. This page is how to budget an evening, how Steam’s refund window collides with that runtime, and why a dense forensic loop can eat the clock even when the house is small.

If you have not launched yet, pair this with Getting Started. If you want a method once you are inside, use the investigation walkthrough. Length is not a substitute for looking.

What “about 2–3 hours” actually means

The Steam page for app 4538140 clocks the campaign at roughly two to three hours. That is the figure this wiki repeats because it is the studio’s public length, not because we timed every ending. Rehaunted withholds a stamped case file; see endings explained. There is no official “true ending plus two hours of NG+” table to quote.

Treat the range as:

  • Lower bound (~2 hours) — you move, you use the kit, you do not fully re-scan every surface, you accept the first coherent paragraph you can defend.
  • Upper bound (~3 hours) — you run naked-eye, UV, and magnifier passes, you radio contradictions, you sit with the evidence board, and you survive at least one hunt without skipping a room.
  • Past three hours — possible if you die, fight a stuck radial menu, retry a radio timer, or replay to test a different theory. That overtime is friction and curiosity, not a hidden act two.

The GameTrailers announcement trailer on this page is useful for tone and pacing. It is not a length study. Do not use cinematic cuts to guess how many rooms you will get.

Rehaunted launched on 14 September 2026 on PC Steam only. It is single-player, Windows 11, full controller support, introductory price about $7.19 until 28 September 2026, then about $7.99. Mixed early Steam reviews (about 40% positive from roughly 15 reviews) matter here because polish problems steal minutes on a game this short. The launch review argues who should buy; this page argues how those minutes are spent.

Steam’s refund window versus a two-hour case

Steam’s standard refund policy is two hours of playtime and fourteen days from purchase (Steam’s live policy page is the authority if that rule changes). Rehaunted’s store length sits on that two-hour line.

Practical translation:

  • A rush through the house can close the refund window before you have used the magnifier properly.
  • A careful first session with UV, camera, radio, and board work can pass two hours while you are still mid-case.
  • A hunt death, a stuck tool wheel, or a radio prompt with missing options can burn the clock without giving you a fair sample of the design.

Do not plan a “I’ll refund if the ending is bad” session. The game may never grade your ending. Play the first hour as an investigation sample: Can you open the radial menu? Can you complete a three-pass room? Can you hear radio options? If the answer is no because of UI, stop and read tips and known bugs instead of grinding past the refund line on principle.

If the answer is yes and you like the loop, the remaining hour or two is the whole product. There is no published post-credits dungeon.

Density: why a small house still takes the evening

Runtime is short. Information density is not. Connor Raines carries a UV flashlight, camera, magnifier, radio, and evidence board. Studio copy is explicit that some traces are invisible to the naked eye, and that paranormal details often resolve through the magnifier. A player who treats Rehaunted as a corridor walk will “finish” faster and see less of the game they paid for.

Time sinks that are part of the design:

  • Three maps per room. Naked-eye, UV, magnifier. Skipping the lens is how you miss the product.
  • Photographs of conflicts, not vibes. The camera is memory. Taking those shots costs seconds that add up.
  • Radio as argument. Dialogue with the partner detective expands the investigation. It is not skippable flavor if you care about the case. The dedicated page is radio dialogue.
  • Board synthesis. Pinning impossible pairs is slower than deleting the ugly clue. That slower path is the one the store page is selling.

Time sinks that are not the design:

  • Learning binds during a chase. Confirm them on controls in a lit space.
  • Fighting a stuck radial or flashlight overlay.
  • Restarting because the tall woman appeared in a space that felt unfair.

The how to investigate page is the density manual. Length without that method is just walking.

Update 01 and how it changes a short run

Cauchemar shipped Update 01 after launch feedback. Two player-facing changes matter for the clock:

  • Photograph the entity, blind it, run through. Update 01 lets you take a photo of the tall woman, blind her, then run through her collision instead of getting stuck on the model. That cuts time lost to standing inside a hunt you cannot leave.
  • Spawn points moved away from tiny enclosed rooms. Launch reports had the tall woman appearing in locked or closet-scale spaces. Update 01 adjusts those spawns. You should still not treat a lock as a sanctuary — read how to survive — but you should lose fewer minutes to an unfair spawn in a cupboard.

Update 01 is not a reason to assume the radio timer or the radial menu are fixed. Those remain launch complaints on tips and known bugs. Do not budget a clean two-hour clear as if every overlay now behaves.

Shader-stall workarounds and other notes belong on the Update 01 page itself. This length guide only claims the chase and spawn changes above.

Replay, achievements, and who this length is for

Twenty-two Steam achievements exist. Public titles are listed on Steam achievements. This wiki will not turn those names into a second campaign length. Some players will finish once in two to three hours. Some will replay with a different radio stance or a different board rule. Replay time is optional. It is not required to “complete” a story the game refuses to stamp.

Buy-and-finish in one evening if you meet system requirements, you want a compact detective-horror sitting, and you can tolerate Mixed polish. Start the session with the Getting Started checklist so you do not spend forty minutes on Options.

Expect the refund clock to be tight if you are the kind of player who UV-scans every skirting board, or if you hit a UI bug early. In that case, decide in the first hour whether the loop is for you, not at 1h59m.

Do not use length as a quality score. A three-hour game can be dense or empty. Rehaunted’s pitch is density: contradictory blood, prints, recordings, and belongings in a house that never feels empty. If that pitch is why you are here, budget the upper end of the range and look twice. If you wanted a 15-hour Metroidvania, the store length already told you no.

When you are ready to spend those hours well, leave this page and open the walkthrough. Come back only if you are trying to fit the case into a calendar, a refund decision, or a second-play plan.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How long is Rehaunted?

Cauchemar lists about two to three hours for the single-player campaign. Careful UV, magnifier, and board work sits at the upper end of that range.

Can I finish inside Steam's two-hour refund window?

Possibly if you rush. A methodical investigation can pass two hours before the case is done. Sample the tools in the first hour; do not wait on an official ending the game may never give.

Does Update 01 make the game shorter?

It can reduce time lost to getting stuck on the entity (photograph, blind, run through) and to tiny-room spawns. It is not a story cut, and it did not advertise a radio-timer fix. See Update 01.

Will achievements double the playtime?

Unknown. There are 22 Steam achievements. This wiki lists verified public titles on Steam achievements and will not invent a completionist hour count.

Is the trailer a good length preview?

The GameTrailers announcement trailer shows tone and pacing, not a room count. Use the store's 2–3 hour estimate plus the investigation walkthrough for a real session plan.
