How to Survive in Rehaunted
Photo-blind, run through, and stop treating enclosed rooms as hide closets.
Rehaunted is a detective game that still wants you scared. You are Connor Raines in a house that marketing describes with one honest line: it feels abandoned, but it never feels empty. The threat players see in trailers and launch footage is a tall supernatural woman who hunts you through that house. There is no combat loop to master. Survival is about attention, space, and not trusting a locked door.
This page is for the minutes when investigation stops. For the rest of the case, use the investigation walkthrough and how to investigate. First-hour setup is in Getting Started. Launch glitches that overlap with chases are listed under tips and known bugs. Update 01 changed two hunt facts: enclosed-room spawns, and collision after you photograph the entity.
What you are dealing with
Cauchemar built Rehaunted as psychological detective horror, not as a shooter with a ghost skin. Connor’s kit is UV, camera, magnifier, radio, and a board. None of those tools is a weapon. When the woman is on you, your job is to break line of sight, keep moving through space you already mapped, and resume looking when the pressure drops.
Treat her as pressure on the investigation, not as a boss with a published pattern. This wiki will not invent spawn tables, named arenas, or a “safe closet” that public materials do not support. What we can say from the premise and launch reports:
- The house is small enough that a chase is never far from the last clue you were holding.
- Sound design is doing as much work as the model. Headphones help you hear her before you see her.
- A lock does not mean the space behind it is a sanctuary. Launch players reported the entity spawning in locked or tiny rooms. Update 01 says hauntings should no longer spawn enemies inside small or enclosed rooms with no escape space — that is a target, not a hide-closet law.
If you came here hoping for a stealth meter or a hide-spot tier list, you will not get one. You will get habits that keep you alive long enough to put another contradiction on the board.
Movement under chase pressure
Map while you are calm. The worst time to learn a doorway is while you are being hunted. During the naked-eye sweep in the walkthrough, notice loops: rooms that connect, rooms that dead-end, furniture that blocks a turn. You are not speedrunning; you are building an escape graph in your head.
When a chase starts:
- Put the magnifier down in your head even if it is still in your hand. Tunnel vision through a lens is how you walk into her. Survive first, inspect second.
- Prefer routes you have already cleared. A “new” dark corner during a hunt is a gamble, not a strategy.
- Do not sprint in a straight line down the longest hall you can see. Break vision at corners and doors you know.
- Keep UV for after. The camera is now also the official hunt interrupt: photograph the entity, blind it, run through it. Souvenir shots of the floor still waste the second you needed for that photo.
Controller users: Rehaunted lists full controller support, which is fine until a radial menu sticks in a hunt. If the tool wheel eats input, that is a known launch bug. Swap to keyboard if you can, or pause/retry as described on tips and known bugs. Dying because the UI captured the stick is not a skill issue.
Photograph, blind, run through (Update 01)
Cauchemar’s first named patch states the hunt interrupt in plain language. After taking a photo of the entity and blinding it, you can now run directly through it. The reason they give is collision: it prevents situations where the player could get stuck on the monster.
That is not a kill. It is a pass. Treat it as a designed tool use, the same way UV is a pass over a stain.
- Keep the camera on the radial before the audio spikes. Learning the wheel during a hunt is how you eat a stuck radial on top of a chase. Binds: controls. Kit: detective toolkit.
- Raise the camera, take the photo, commit through the model. Do not stand inside her waiting for a stagger animation the Steam post does not describe.
- If you never take the photo, you do not get the blind. Update 01 does not say you can always walk through an unblinded hunt.
- After you are through, keep moving along routes you already mapped. The patch stops “stuck on the monster,” not “the house is empty.”
The haunting tutorial now stays on screen longer so you can actually read that mechanic. If you mashed the prompt on a pre-patch boot, this section is the makeup class. There is no official replay-tutorial button in the Steam post.
Locked rooms and enclosed spawns are still not sanctuaries
In a lot of horror, you slam a door, hear a lock, and exhale. Launch players reported the entity appearing inside rooms that should have been sealed. Update 01 answers a specific version of that report: spawn locations were adjusted so hauntings should no longer place enemies inside small or enclosed rooms where you have no space to escape.
Read the nouns. The patch is about small or enclosed rooms with no escape space. It does not say every locked door is safe. A furnished room you locked behind you can still have floor. A closet with no second door is the box the patch is aimed at. “Should no longer” is the studio’s verb, not a proof of zero leftovers.
Practical translation:
- Do not camp a no-exit box to “wait out” a hunt. Update 01 makes that spawn less likely; it does not make camping a strategy.
- Use a locked room only as a pass-through if you already know the next door. A lock can still keep you from leaving.
- If you become trapped with her in a space you thought was safe, stop trying to logic the lock. Take the photo if you can, run through, and look for the exit you used to enter.
- After you survive, do not mark that room as solved. Finish UV and magnifier passes later. A chase is not a search.
- If a no-exit spawn still happens after Update 01, log the room type on Steam discussions. Leftovers need reports, not superstition. The updates hub is where the next named post will land.
Remaining risk is honest: the house is still small, the woman is still the pressure, and a patch that retargets spawns does not delete hunts. Play as if you might still meet her in a doorway you liked.
Tools versus panic
The magnifier is the soul of the investigation and a liability in a chase. Paranormal traces often exist only through that lens, which trains you to live inside it. Break the habit when audio spikes. The UV flashlight can help you read a space you already know; it will not banish her. The camera is the exception: after Update 01 it is the official blind. The radio is for your partner detective, not for calling a rescue. Save dialogue for when you can actually hear the options — a timed radio prompt with missing choices is a launch bug Update 01 did not name, and a hunt is the worst time to fight that UI.
Audio settings from Getting Started matter here more than extra graphics. If music buries footsteps and radio, you will take hits you could have walked around. Lower mix distractions; keep effects and dialogue high.
After the hunt
When the pressure drops, do not immediately open a new wing of the house. Retrace. Confirm you still know where you were in the layer order: sweep, UV, magnifier, board. Use the camera for evidence and for the photo-blind interrupt; do not keep it up for trophy shots after she is already behind you. Then talk to the partner if the hunt changed what you believe. Fear is not evidence, but a disruption that made you miss a wall is a reason to re-scan.
Rehaunted’s campaign is two to three hours. You do not need a perfect no-hit run. You need enough composure to keep documenting a case the game will not grade for you. When you are ready to interpret what you survived, endings explained is the honest page. If chases plus bugs are ruining the buy, read the launch review before you push through on principle.
Survival is the tax you pay to keep investigating. Pay it, then go back to looking. The Guides Hub will send you to the page that matches whatever stopped you — clue, conclusion, or crash.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I fight the supernatural woman?
No. Connor’s kit is forensic. Update 01 lets you photograph her, blind her, and run through her so you do not stick on collision. Then return to how to investigate.
Are locked rooms safe?
Do not assume so. Update 01 says hauntings should no longer spawn in small or enclosed rooms with no escape space — not that locks are sanctuaries. Treat locks as movement blockers, and see tips and known bugs.
Should I keep the magnifier up during a chase?
No. The magnifier is for clues that naked eyes miss. Drop the tunnel vision, photograph-blind-run if she is on you, then finish the pass in the investigation walkthrough.
How does the photo-blind escape work?
Update 01: photograph the entity, blind it, run through it so you do not get stuck. Details on Update 01 Patch Notes and the detective toolkit.
Does a controller make survival harder?
Support is full, but a stuck radial menu is a known launch bug. Keep a keyboard ready and follow workarounds on tips and known bugs.
Where do I go after I can survive a hunt?
Back to the case. Use the walkthrough layer order, then endings explained when you are ready to own a conclusion.
