Rehaunted Update 01 Patch Notes
First official Steam patch — shader skip, enclosed-room spawns, photo-blind collision, longer tutorial.
Cauchemar published UPDATE 01 – First Fixes & Improvements on Steam news on 14 September 2026, the same calendar day Rehaunted launched on PC Steam. The studio’s opening line is blunt: they have already started working on fixes based on player feedback. This wiki page is a faithful reading of that post — not a fabricated 1.0.1 build ID, and not a promise that every launch complaint is gone.
If you need the buy-page snapshot (price, Mixed reviews, wishlist brag), stay on launch notes. If a tool still misbehaves, keep tips and bugs open. If the tall presence is the problem, the play advice lives on how to survive. Update 01 is the first named patch this hub can cite with a URL.
Steam applies the update when the client downloads it. Restart the game after the news item appears in your activity feed. This page will not invent a version string Cauchemar did not print.
Official list (14 Sep 2026)
The Steam post names four changes. Quote them as written, then play them as written.
Shader Screen. If the shader screen is stuck at 0%, you can now continue directly to the Main Menu. The shader screen will also only appear once, when launching the game for the first time.
Haunting Spawn Points. Cauchemar adjusted enemy spawn locations. Hauntings should no longer spawn enemies inside small or enclosed rooms where the player has no space to escape.
Haunting Collision. After taking a photo of the entity and blinding it, you can now run directly through it. That change exists to stop you getting stuck on the monster.
Haunting Tutorial. The tutorial now stays on screen longer, so you have more time to read how the mechanic works.
The close of the post is also official: they are already working on more fixes and improvements; they want Rehaunted to be the best experience they can; if you hit problems or have feedback, tell them — they are reading everything. Use Steam discussions rather than hoping a wiki editor can file a ticket.
Shader screen — skip 0%, do not wait forever
Unreal titles often compile shaders on first boot. Launch players who sat on a 0% bar now have an official out: continue to the Main Menu. The studio also says the shader screen appears only on first launch. That is a one-time gate, not a ritual you should expect every session.
If the bar is frozen, take the continue option. Do not force-quit in a loop hoping a different percentage appears. If later sessions hitch in doorways, that is a different performance problem — check system requirements and the handheld notes on Steam Deck, not this first-boot screen.
Spawn points — enclosed rooms, not a lock-law rewrite
Launch conversation included the entity appearing in rooms that felt sealed or too small to leave. Update 01 answers a specific version of that complaint: small or enclosed rooms with no escape space. The verb is “should no longer,” which is a studio target, not a mathematically empty spawn table.
Play the distinction:
- Tiny closets, bathrooms, and other no-exit boxes are the rooms this patch is aimed at.
- A locked door on a room that still has floor space is not named in the Steam post. Do not treat every lock as certified safe.
- If a spawn still looks broken (through a wall, looping, no-exit), reload the checkpoint and log the room type on Steam discussions. Superstition is worse than a report.
How to survive still tells you not to camp a lock. Update 01 makes enclosed-room camping less likely to be a spawn trap; it does not turn the house into a hide-and-seek map.
Collision — photograph, blind, run through
This is the mechanic the patch actually documents. Connor’s camera is not a gun, but it is now an official escape tool: take a photo of the entity, blind it, then run through it so you do not stick on the collision.
Practical translation:
- Keep the camera reachable from the radial. Practice that bind in a calm room using controls and the detective toolkit.
- When the tall woman is on you, raise the camera, get the shot, and commit to the pass-through. Do not stand in the model waiting for a melee animation that does not exist.
- If you never fire the photo, you do not get the blind. Update 01 does not say you can always clip through an unblinded hunt.
- After you are through, keep moving. The post prevents “stuck on the monster,” not “the hunt is over forever.”
Photographing the entity for a souvenir is still a bad investigation habit. Photographing her to break collision is now the designed interrupt. Those two uses are not the same.
Tutorial timing
The haunting tutorial stays up longer. If you mashed through it on a pre-patch boot, you may have missed the photo-blind instruction this update is trying to teach. There is no official “replay tutorial” button in the Steam post. Read this page, read how to survive, and treat the longer prompt as the studio admitting the old timer was too short.
What Update 01 does not claim
The Steam list is four items. It does not mention:
- Radio dialogue timers that expire, stick, or drop choices
- A radial menu or UV flashlight overlay that will not dismiss
- General clipping through walls, stairs, or props
- A review-score reset, a new ending, or extra-player modes
Those launch issues remain on tips and bugs until a later news post names them. Do not write “Update 01 fixed the radio” because a spawn patch landed. Cauchemar said they are already working on more fixes. Wait for the next URL.
Steam Deck: studio claims versus the store badge
The 12 September ready post, WE ARE FINALLY READY!, is where Cauchemar talked handhelds — not Update 01. The studio said Rehaunted is fully playable start to finish on Steam Deck; Medium and High are generally around 30–40 FPS and stay above 30; Low can go higher; FSR or Intel XeSS and Frame Generation need to be enabled to hit those numbers. The same post says DLSS, FSR, and XeSS are supported on PC, Unreal Engine systems were optimized in depth, and the game can run on hardware with as little as 6 GB of VRAM.
The Steam store still lists Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown. Studio testing is not Valve’s badge. Read both sentences on Steam Deck. Do not tell a friend “it is Deck Verified” because a news post is optimistic.
That ready post also rebuilt the magnifying-glass system, added UV flashlight interactions, phone events, hidden numbers to call, a laptop, and a mobile phone. Those are launch-kit facts for the detective toolkit, not Update 01 changelog lines.
Price and the out-now note
Rehaunted is OUT NOW! (14 Sep 2026) set the store context Update 01 sits on: the game is available for $7.99 with a 10% launch discount, and the studio said it launched with nearly 100,000 wishlists. Introductory pricing on the store has been about $7.19 until 28 Sep 2026. Steam’s cart is the authority if a region disagrees.
Update 01 does not change the price, the two-to-three-hour length, Windows 11, or the single-player rule.
How to use this page after you patch
- Confirm Steam downloaded Update 01.
- If shaders hang at 0%, continue to the Main Menu.
- Play hunts with camera in reach: photo, blind, run through.
- Stop using no-exit boxes as hide closets; the spawn table was rewritten against that.
- Keep reporting radio, radial, and leftover spawn nonsense on Steam discussions.
- Return to the updates hub when the next news item exists.
The first patch is real. It is also short. Play the four lines Cauchemar published, and keep the rest of the launch notebook until they publish more.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
When did Rehaunted Update 01 ship?
14 September 2026, the same day as the Steam launch. Read the official post, then this Update 01 summary and the launch notes snapshot.
What should I do if the shader screen is stuck at 0%?
Continue to the Main Menu. Cauchemar says the shader screen appears only on first launch. Later hitching is a performance issue — see system requirements.
Can I run through the entity now?
After you photograph it and blind it, yes. That is the official collision change. Practice the camera on the detective toolkit page, then use how to survive during a hunt.
Did Update 01 stop enclosed-room spawns?
The studio says hauntings should no longer spawn enemies in small or enclosed rooms with no escape space. That is a target, not a lock-sanctuary. Remaining risk is on how to survive.
Did Update 01 fix the radio timer or stuck radial menu?
No. Those issues are not in the Steam list. Keep using the workarounds on tips and bugs until a later news post names them.
Is Rehaunted Steam Deck Verified after this patch?
No. The store badge is still Unknown. The 12 Sep ready post claims fully playable start-to-finish numbers with FSR or XeSS plus Frame Generation. Compare both on Steam Deck.
