Rehaunted Tools Hub
Controls, forensic kit, and PC specs for Connor Raines' investigation.
Rehaunted asks you to think like a detective while the house tries to interrupt that thinking. This hub is the practical layer: how you move, how you select tools, what each forensic gadget is for, and whether your PC can run the 14 Sep 2026 Steam build. Read it before you treat the crime scene like a sprint.
Cauchemar ships a short single-player campaign, not a loadout sandbox. There is no crafting tree, no weapon rarity, and no multiplayer lobby. The tools that matter are the ones on Connor Raines’ person — UV light, camera, magnifier, radio, and the evidence board — plus the Options screen that decides whether those tools feel precise or clumsy. If a control is wrong, the investigation feels wrong. If the machine stutters, you will miss a print, a stain, or a radio line.
Start with the reference pages
Use these pages as a kit, not as isolated articles.
- Controls — expected keyboard, mouse, and controller defaults, with an honest note that Cauchemar has not published an official bind chart. Confirm everything in-game.
- Detective toolkit — what the UV flashlight, camera, magnifier, radio, and evidence board actually do, and how they contradict each other on purpose.
- System requirements — Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, GPU floors, DLSS/FSR/XeSS, and the studio 6 GB VRAM note beside the official GTX 1070 Ti minimum.
- Steam Deck — studio playability claim (Med/High, FSR or XeSS plus frame generation), and why the store may still say Unknown.
- Radio dialogue — partner talk, timers, and why Update 01 is not a walkie-talkie hotfix.
New investigators should pair this hub with Getting Started so the first hour is a methodical sweep instead of a panic tour. If the tall presence in the house keeps breaking your concentration, switch to how to survive before you keep chasing every glow.
Why the interface is part of the case
Rehaunted is first-person investigation horror. You search a house that looks abandoned and never feels empty. Blood traces, fingerprints, recordings, and belongings refuse to agree. The Steam description is explicit: the game does not hand you a confirmed answer. That design only works if you can actually see the disagreement.
The UV pass is useless if you never open the light. The camera is useless if you photograph atmosphere instead of details. The magnifier is useless if you treat it as a cutscene prop. The radio is useless if you talk over a chase or miss a timed prompt. The board is useless if you pin screenshots of rooms instead of contradictions. How to investigate covers the workflow; this hub covers the hardware and the binds that make that workflow possible.
Early launch reports also treat the interface as a bug surface. Players have described a radio dialogue timer that misfires, a radial menu or flashlight overlay that can stick, entity spawn glitches, and clipping. None of those are excuses to skip the tools — they are reasons to know which menu you are in. Keep tips and bugs open while you play the launch build.
Input, length, and what not to expect
Plan for about two to three hours. That is long enough to forget a bind and short enough that a stuck overlay can ruin a whole sitting. Full controller support is in the launch build for Xbox and PlayStation layouts; keyboard and mouse remain the expected default for precise magnifier work. The second detective exists on the radio, not on a second couch. This is a single-player story.
Consoles are planned later and are not part of the Steam launch. Cauchemar has said the game is fully playable on Steam Deck; Valve’s store badge may still read Unknown. Details, FSR/XeSS, and handheld binds are on Steam Deck playability. If you are buying on the introductory Steam price (about $7.19 until 28 Sep 2026, then about $7.99), read the system requirements first — Windows 11 is a hard store requirement on PC, not a suggestion.
How to use this hub during a run
- Confirm OS, RAM, and GPU against the spec table, then set brightness and look sensitivity in Options before you enter the property.
- Learn how you open the radial tool menu, toggle the UV light, raise the magnifier, and key the radio without looking down at the keyboard.
- Do a naked-eye room sweep, then a UV pass, then a magnifier pass. Photograph what actually conflicts, not every prop.
- Radio discoveries when you are safe enough to hear the reply. Pin the conflict on the evidence board, not the first story that sounds neat.
- If a control, overlay, or spawn breaks, note the room and check launch notes plus tips and bugs before you assume the case is unwinnable.
When you are ready to commit to a route through the house, leave this hub and use the walkthrough. Come back here when a tool, bind, or spec question is blocking the investigation — not when you want the ending explained. Endings belong on endings explained.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where is the official Rehaunted control list?
Cauchemar has not published a full official bind chart. Use controls as expected first-person defaults, then confirm every action in the in-game Options menu.
Which detective tools does Connor actually carry?
UV flashlight, camera, magnifier, radio (walkie-talkie), and an evidence board. The detective toolkit page walks through each one without treating them as a combat loadout.
Can I play Rehaunted with a controller?
Yes. The launch build includes full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation layouts. Magnifier work is still easier with a mouse for many players. See controls.
What PC do I need for the Steam launch?
Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB of RAM, and at least a GTX 1070 Ti 6 GB class GPU. Read the full min/rec table on system requirements. For handheld, see Steam Deck playability.
Is the radio just flavor text?
No. Dialogue with the partner detective expands the investigation. Timed prompts can fail at launch. See radio dialogue. Update 01 did not advertise a radio fix.
